Hi!

Here are some photos from Leadville, Chicago and some other places. We found the photos in Sweden during our ancestor research. However we can't identify the persons on the photos. The people at the photos are Swedes who had immigrated to America in the early 1900's

We need all help we can get. Every single clue is of great importance. So if you can help us with name or places or other stories about these persons, please contact me on e-mail by clicking this link.

Thanks! /Willy Johansson Sweden

(Note! Each photo's id number is placed below the photo. I will try to update this page with the information you and other people will help me with.)

Chicago photos:

#C1 - Who are those girls?

#C2 - Who is that child?

#C3 - Who is that woman?

#C4 - Who is that family?

#C5 - Who is that couple?

#C6 - Who is that family?

The photos below are from Leadville Colorado and from the late 1890's and early 1900's. We found them in Sweden more than 100 years after (2009) and now we have started to identify the persons on the photos. We need all help we can get. So if you can help us with name or places or other stories about these persons, please contact me on e-mail by clicking this link.

The people at the photos below seem to have had a good social life during those years in Leadville. Among others they joined a lodge, the Court Scandia No 9 of F o A (Forester’s of America). Court Scandia held regularly meetings (and social meetings) sometimes several times a month. It seemed to be a very well organized group of respected men that joined the Court Scandia.

It’s my best guess that most of those people at the unidentified photos below are people from that lodge but also other people who lived in Leadville during those years.

Even if you don't know any persons at the photos, feel free to contact me if you want to exchange information about Leadville or discuss, the lodge [the Court Scandia No 9 of Forester’s of America] or the Swedes in Leadville those years. Please mail me at:

Below are some photos from unknown location:

#C7 - Who is that man? - On the photo is some sort of identity of the photographer, that is: - YAGER  11 MAIN ST

#C8 - Who is that man? - On the photo is some sort of identity of the photographer; that is: - one not readable letter + H. Huszagh

Update from Erik Torson March 13th, 2010: "On the 1880 census for Chicago, Illinois, William Huszagh aged 24 and his younger brother Oscar aged 18 are both listed as photographers. On the 1900 census and again in 1910, William O. Huszagh is still listed as a photographer in Chicago. It appears that he had a studio at 701 W. Madison St."

Update from Kevin Reynolds March 12th, 2010: "I cannot identify the man but he is wearing the uniform of the United States Volunteers, a cavalry outfit organized by Theodore Roosevelt which fought in the Spanish American War." From Wikipedia I found out that that conflict took place during 1898 meaning that the photo would be from that period of time.
